Coordinated Specialty Care (CSC) for first-episode psychosis
Team-based early psychosis care—the recommended approach soon after psychosis begins.
How it works
A team works together with the person and family: medication management, psychotherapy, family education and support, case management, and supported employment and education to help the person stay in school or work.
What the evidence says, use by use
Evidence is specific to the condition, population and—for devices—the exact product. One label never covers everything.
Who usually provides it
Early psychosis / CSC programs—often called by local program names; ask a psychiatrist, hospital system or the state mental-health authority.
Cautions & things to know
- Timely care matters: the sooner psychosis is assessed, the better the outcomes tend to be.
Questions for a clinician
Conversation prompts, not a treatment plan.
- Is there a coordinated specialty care program near us, and who is eligible?
- Does it include supported education and employment?
Educational, not medical advice. NeuroCoach is an educational and care-navigation resource, not a medical provider. Information about medications, supplements, therapies, devices, clinical trials and community experiences is provided for education and exploration and is not a recommendation, diagnosis or treatment plan. Evidence varies substantially among interventions. Decisions about medical or mental-health treatment should be made with an appropriately qualified healthcare professional. Do not start, stop or change medication, supplements or treatment based solely on information found here.
