FLORIDA FUNDING GUIDE

Start with the need. Then find the program that may pay for it.

A practical starting map for Florida disability services, caregiver support, employment, equipment and community living.

Apply early when a program may matter later. Eligibility, waitlists, funding and authorized services change. A listing here means “investigate this pathway,” not “you will qualify.”

For an adult who needs another person to help

In Florida, do not search only for “respite.” APD currently describes iBudget respite as an under-21 service. For adults, ask specifically about Personal Supports, Companion / Life Skills Development, Supported Living Coaching, Adult Day Training, Supported Employment and other authorized services that match the need.

Questions worth asking

  • Which program pays for this need—not just which provider offers it?
  • Can I apply now even if we do not need the service immediately?
  • Is there a pre-enrollment/waitlist category, and what changes should I report?
  • Can the service happen at home, in the community or at work?
  • Can I choose the provider?
  • What documentation would make the need clearer?
  • If this program cannot pay, what other agency should I call next?
