IF FACEBOOK IS ALREADY PART OF YOUR DAY

Keep the connections that work for you.

The directory includes Facebook groups linked by their organizing nonprofits. A group can be useful for local recommendations and meeting other parents, but being listed here is not an endorsement of its posts.

Looking in another area? Start with your local Autism Society affiliate or the Autism Society of Texas group list, including Spanish-language options.

A quick check before joining

  • Look for clear rules, named moderators and recent activity.
  • Check who can see your profile, membership and posts.
  • Keep your child's identifying details, records and private screenshots out of posts.
  • Leave groups that pressure you to buy a cure or change treatment without your care team.

A private group still cannot guarantee that another member will keep a post private.

CONNECTION CAN BE SMALL

You do not have to join everything.

01

Meet through something you enjoy.

A library activity, a walk or a sensory-friendly outing can give conversation an easier starting point. Ask about accessibility and whether parents stay.

02

Ask for one parent connection.

If a busy group feels like too much, ask a Parent to Parent program about a peer who understands a similar stage of family life.

03

Leave a little encouragement.

Read a conversation or share a small win in NeuroCoach's growing community. Approved posts and replies are public and reviewed before publication.

WORDS YOU CAN MAKE YOUR OWN

One message is a start.

“I'm looking for a little more parent connection. Would you be up for a short walk, coffee or a check-in by text sometime? No pressure to have advice.”

Choose what feels right for you.

Ask whether listening without speaking is welcome, whether cameras are optional, and what accommodations or language options are available. Peer connection is different from therapy; individual groups set their own participation rules.

NeuroCoach's public community currently has no private circles, direct messages or buddy matching. Your private Care Plan is not shared with these groups. Joining an external group is a separate choice on that organization's website.
